Grand Prix of Figure Skating: 2014 Rostelecom Cup Ladies’ and Pairs Events

We’ve been negligent in providing ample coverage of figure skating for the season thus far. However, this definitely doesn’t mean that there aren’t enough interesting things to be said. This weekend, competitors on the Grand Prix of Figure Skating circuit find themselves in Moscow, Russia for the 2014 Rostelecom Cup. Here’s a quick recap of events that have happened so far:

Ladies Short Program:

1. Alaine Chartrand(CAN) 61.18

To be honest, none of the women put together an absolutely flawless performance. Chartrand, along with most other competitors, seemed tense, and as a result, sloppy.  Spins could be more centered, connecting steps more fluid. That being said, the girl is on top of the leaderboard. However, there are only 4 points between 1st and 4th, so it’s still anybody’s game.

Canada’s Alaine Chartrand performs a layback and catchfoot in her short program. She leads the ladies event by 1.33 points.
